ACCOUNT I - The Gloam Cats | Watchers of the Wood
Updated: Aug 27

Every Mythkeeper knows not to follow a Gloam Cat.
They never lead you where you wish to go.
Long before lanterns were carried by travelers, the forest had another way of watching its paths.
It grew eyes.
Little is known of the creatures, save that they gather from shadows that have lingered too long beneath moonlight. When enough silence collects in one place, a cat steps from it as though it had always been there.
They are most often found at the edges of things: along paths, beneath branches, atop ruined walls, and in the dark spaces between trees, deep shadows spilling from them in broken tendrils.
Watching.
No one knows what they watch for.
No one knows whether there are dozens of Gloam Cats wandering the Wood, or only one appearing wherever it wishes.
They leave no tracks.
Perhaps one of the longest standing arguments in The Wood is whether the Gloam Cats actually lead travelers anywhere, or are they simply walking through The Wood?
This is where our investigation begins.
